Smocking workshop (Online)

** SOLD OUT **
Saturday 16 October 2021, 10.30am – 1.30pm BST
£35

Our 3-hour workshop will cover different pleating and stitching techniques and we’ll have a look at different patterns and designs. Whether you have plans to use small smocking details (such as on a sleeve or cuff), or maybe you’re plotting a more ambitious full-size smock, our workshop will give you all the history and methods you need to take the craft forwards into your sewing projects. ZTC conservator Hazel Arnott will be leading the workshop and we’ll be joined for a talk and Q&A session by guest speaker Alison Toplis (dress and textile historian and author of Hidden History of the Smock Frock: Deception & Disguise). Price includes materials you’ll need for the workshop.

November 2021

Caring for vintage clothes (Online)

Date tbc
Vintage clothing has never been more popular, but once you’ve found your perfect piece the age old problem of how to protect and look after your clothes becomes even more important than your modern wardrobe. What’s the best way to hang or fold them? Should you use tissue paper in between the folds? How do you get rid of those age related stains? And, most common of all, how do you protect them from those pesky moths?

Join us for a 3-hour workshop led by Zenzie, with guest speaker Will Emmett (collector and owner of Emmett & White antique shop in Alfriston) joining us to share his experience and advice.

Full booking details coming soon.
