Description
Separate tie-on pockets were essential accessories worn by most women from the 17th to late 19th century, usually underneath their petticoats. Often made and used in pairs, they were accessed via slits in their outer skirts and, much like handbags of today, held not only essential items such as keys and money but also valuable and deeply personal items giving clues to the identities of their owners.
Inspired by the fabulous historic pockets we come across in collections, we decided to update the pattern to reflect a more contemporary use. The kit includes:
– Outer fabric
– Lining fabric
– Pocket pattern template
– Instructions booklet
You can choose from a combination of two different outer fabrics (Arundel Teal Linen or Neutral Linen) and two different linings (matching or patterned). The fabric arrives uncut, meaning you’ll be able to decorate or embellish it however you wish – a quick read-through the hints & tips section at the end of the instruction booklet will give you plenty of suggestions!
